Our genius administration thinks it's time to start a reading program. Man, they are smart. Any reviews or insight on READ 180? Sounds very expensive. Any better ideas for more bang for our buck?

Suzanne, I am new on this site. Our admin is thinking the same for our school. I would love any insights from users of this program. We are a small, rural high school - this would be a new program all around - in that it has been many years since any type of remediation was attempted at this level. Thanks you. Liz

I have used READ 180 for the last 3 years, and LOVE this program. Our district has us ( READ 180) in 2 period blocks. During our class time students work in whole group, small group, ind. reading, and on the computers. The program gives tons of feedback on student progress, and needs, and it has tons of resources. The materials are great, the trainings are excellent, and the opportunity to work with students in small groups is priceless. This program is the ONLY reason I am willing to teach 9th graders all day long, and then for a month during the summer. :) Every year I have had students make huge gains in reading, and even reading novels alone for the first time ever!
